Ecem Süsoy Uygun, Managing Associate at Erdem & Erdem, was a guest on Bloomberg HT’s “60 Dakika” program, broadcast live on Friday, January 9 at 19:00.

During the program, the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and its implications for Türkiye’s national legislation, export processes, and competitive position were discussed.

Ecem Süsoy Uygun underlined that CBAM has evolved beyond a green transition policy and has become a binding trade instrument directly affecting costs and supply chain management. She drew attention to the certification obligations set to commence in 2026 following the completion of the transitional period, the responsibility of Turkish producers in providing emissions data, and the potential risk of double carbon costs.

In this context, she emphasized that the establishment of a national emissions trading system and the transparent and effective implementation of climate-related legislation are of critical importance for Turkish companies to maintain their position in the EU market.
