Ercüment Erdem Participated as Speaker at the International Conference on “How Much State Courts Control in Arbitration?”
Ercüment Erdem, Founder and Senior Partner of Erdem & Erdem Law Office, participated as a speaker at the international conference entitled “How Much State Courts Control in Arbitration?”, held on 16 June 2026 at the Ahi Çelebi Campus Conference Center of Istanbul Commerce University.
During the conference, Prof. Dr. Erdem delivered a presentation entitled “Involvement of Turkish Courts During Arbitration Proceedings: To What Extent?”, addressing the role of Turkish courts during arbitration proceedings.
The conference, organized by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration and Mediation Center (ITOTAM), focused on one of the most significant issues in arbitration practice: the limits of judicial supervision and intervention in arbitral proceedings. Bringing together academics, arbitrators and practitioners, the event examined the balance between the autonomy of arbitral proceedings and judicial oversight from the perspective of different legal systems.
The conference, which convened leading figures in the field of international arbitration, provided an important platform for discussing the delicate relationship between arbitration and state courts, with particular reference to the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and the Turkish Court of Cassation.
